"Weaving" takes up only 1% of the whole process of making bashofu.

The production of bashofu consists of 23 processes. 

These processes are all done by hand in the same way as in the past using natural materials. For example, because some processes require wood lye, firewood is used instead of gas. Even now, the whole process of making bashofu does not use any machinery.
